Lignus Collective Housing
Site: Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid
Competition: 2014
Different ways of living.
We propose a community where the types of housing are not grouped according to their number of bedrooms, thus favoring the interaction of generationally different profiles.
Shutters
A leading construction element to combat energy losses caused by the cold / heat contrast through the gaps in the facade.
Screen building.
With north / northeast orientation, it has been conceived as a protective shelter from the rest of the complex. A laminar “system” whose core cools in summer and remains wrapped in winter.
Laminar patio.
As an element of compensation and thermal balance of the different facades of the building complex. The footbridges that coexist in it, perform a distributive and rest function at different levels.
Energy balance.
The screen building has been designed to be energy balanced in itself, and acts as a thermal cushion for the rest of the building.
Covered terrace “Screen building”.
The attic terraces are protected by a permeable element. These terraces represent a recovery of the public space and will enhance the natural character of the community. A playful and experiential place where urban environment and nature are combined.
