Situated in a low-density residential development area, the architecture of neighboring plots lacks heritage value, leading us to focus on the natural surroundings as the primary source of inspiration. The house thus becomes an observatory that celebrates the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
The structure of the house, with its shell alternating between concave and convex spaces, is not only visually striking but also translates into a unique experience for its inhabitants. At night, the pool becomes a lamp that illuminates the living room on the ground floor, and in turn, acts as a streetlight bathing the urban space through openings designed in its outer envelope. This play of light and shadow adds a magical dimension to the home, making it a place where nature and architecture intertwine.
At Angulo Arquitectura, we firmly believe in the concept of “experiential design,” where function and composition are equally important in creating sensations. In this project, the client becomes the protagonist of the conceptualization process, allowing their desires and needs to be reflected in every corner of the house. Despite the strict urban planning constraints affecting the plot, we managed to create a design that respects and adapts to the environment.
The optimization of construction elements has been a priority in this project. The reinforced concrete structure has been designed to be balanced and efficient, functioning as a cohesive whole. Dry construction methods were prioritized, not only to improve the construction processes but also for sustainability and recyclability reasons. The palette of materials used was intentionally reduced, simplifying construction and supporting a bold and austere aesthetic.
The Pool House is an example of industrialized construction, where building components are pre-manufactured, reducing costs and construction times. Innovative solutions, such as Canadian tubes and humidity regulation systems using the pool, contribute to environmental balance. Additionally, enclosures have been designed to guarantee excellent thermal performance, combining rock wool insulation with thermo-reflective sheets.
To ensure absolute control over materials and project execution, we incorporated BIM design software. This tool enables precise coordination among the various project stakeholders and guarantees accurate measurements. During the conceptualization phase, we placed special emphasis on offering high-quality visual communication to the client, allowing them to experience part of the concepts being proposed.
