A House Adapted to the Slope and the Landscape
The plot has an almost square shape and a steep downward slope from east to west. Far from seeing this as a limitation, the project takes advantage of the topography to create a terraced house that adapts to the terrain and enhances the views of the natural surroundings and Mahón harbor.
The house is organized on three levels—basement, ground floor, and first floor—connected by a composition of clean volumes and flat roofs that lend lightness and horizontality to the whole.
The main access, for both pedestrians and vehicles, is naturally arranged from the upper level of the plot, facilitating functionality and connection with the outdoors.
Contemporary Mediterranean Architecture
The design of Cala Llonga 411 embraces contemporary Mediterranean architecture with clean lines, open spaces, and a strong connection to the outdoors.
White walls, stepped terraces, and warm-toned paving help integrate the house into the Menorcan landscape, enhancing the natural light and the connection to the Mediterranean climate.
The house incorporates multiple outdoor spaces designed to enjoy the surroundings year-round: terraces, relaxation areas, gardens, and open spaces where architecture and nature coexist harmoniously.
Landscape Integration and Native Vegetation
One of the project’s main objectives was to preserve the natural character of the plot. To achieve this, the existing vegetation was selectively cleared, preserving the larger trees and promoting the integration of native species into the landscape design.
The vegetation thus becomes an essential part of the architecture, providing privacy, shade, and coolness to the house’s outdoor spaces. The exterior staircase that connects the different levels reinforces this relationship between architecture and landscape, generating open routes and continuous views towards the natural environment.
Natural Materials and Residential Comfort
The construction combines reinforced concrete structural solutions with materials and finishes designed to enhance the comfort and durability of the home.
The exterior walls incorporate thermal and acoustic insulation, while the lime mortar cladding provides a natural look consistent with Menorca’s traditional architecture.
The home is complemented by a private swimming pool, landscaped gardens, and outdoor spaces designed for relaxation and outdoor living, making the entire complex a residential experience deeply connected to the Mediterranean landscape.
A Contemporary Home Connected to the Environment
With Cala Llonga 411, Angulo Arquitectura presents a contemporary home where architecture, topography, and landscape are seamlessly integrated.
The project aims to offer a tranquil, bright, and open way of living, reinterpreting Mediterranean architecture from a modern, functional perspective that respects Menorca’s natural environment.
